EAG Airport Management N.V. is an aviation venture with a rich legacy and a clear vision for the future. It was founded on 3 October 2022 to operate Heliport Paramaribo and to lead its transition into EAG Airport.

Today the company brings together aviation infrastructure, operational expertise and a strategic location north of Paramaribo. This spans FBO services, aviation fuel, offshore helicopter operations and regional connectivity across the Guianas.

We are building more than infrastructure. We are building connection.

Our legacy

Built on six decades of aviation in Suriname

EAG is part of Belegging- en Beheersmaatschappij Sky Farmers N.V., alongside Surinam Sky Farmers N.V. and Gum Air N.V. Decades of flying in Suriname, from 1964 onwards, led up to the airport.

  1. 1964

    Surinam Sky Farmers

Surinam Sky Farmers is established by brothers Gerhard and Eduard Gummels, starting in agricultural aviation, flying where few others would and laying the foundation for the group's aviation experience the airport builds on today.

  2. 1971

    Gum Air begins operations

Gum Air begins operations, building more than fifty years of experience in bush flying and serving every airfield in Suriname, supporting tour operators, mining businesses, local villages, medical cases and government flights.

  3. 2013

    Heliport platform

Tullow Oil plc initiated drilling activities and approached Gum Air for air transportation to their location. The Gummelsweg site, close to the hospital and the coast, made investing in a platform and hangar attractive. The drilling campaign was ultimately cancelled, but with operating and technical permits already secured, construction of the platform proceeded.

  4. 2015

    Suriname's first dedicated heliport

Heliport Paramaribo is established on Gummelsweg, north of Paramaribo, as Suriname's first dedicated heliport, focused on offshore helicopter operations for Oil and Gas operators and supporting crew movements, training, medevac, search and rescue and passenger movements. Petronas indicated it would establish operations within six months and required a hangar, so construction of the hangar and passenger facilities began. On completion, ERA Helicopters arrived and Apache Corporation leased the hangar.

  5. 2016

    Aerodrome certification

Heliport Paramaribo receives aerodrome certification from CADSUR.

  6. 2017

    Hangar 2

Growing demand led to the construction of a second hangar. Schlumberger Limited became the tenant on completion.

  7. 2018

    An airport takes shape

ERA requested a paved take-off area of 3000 ft by 18 m for flight safety. With flight numbers peaking at 19 movements in a single day across five helicopters, apron space became limiting. The idea of developing an airport took root, and construction began on a runway of 1199 m by 23 m.

  8. 2022

    EAG Airport Management N.V.

EAG Airport Management N.V. is founded on 3 October to operate Heliport Paramaribo and lead its transition into EAG Airport, as part of Belegging- en Beheersmaatschappij Sky Farmers N.V. alongside Surinam Sky Farmers N.V. and Gum Air N.V. Two additional hangars are added the same year, expanding capacity and capability.

  9. 2023

    Passenger terminal

Construction of the passenger terminal, designed for a capacity of 50 passengers.

  10. 2025

    Aerodrome Certificate and fixed-wing operations

EAG Airport receives its Aerodrome Certificate from CADSUR on 24 February and expands into fixed-wing aviation. International fixed-wing operations began on 20 March 2025, serving regional routes.
